Sivertson Gallery Print Studio
Sivertson Print Studio offers premium digital printmaking services for a wide variety of artists and makers. Using state-of-the-art equipment in our professional studio, our services include high-resolution digital image capture, giclée paper and canvas printing, and detailed photo restoration—all done by experts who understand art.
High-Resolution digital image capture
Image capture is the digitizing of your artwork for prints or digital presentation. We have a dedicated photo studio with proper lighting and post-processing image capabilities. Your art will be captured in a controlled light atmosphere and include color management. We attempt our very best to accurately color match to your original.
We can digitize 2D flat art as well as 3D sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry.
High resolution image capture is essential for giclée prints, and we request, when possible, that original artwork be provided to us for the most accurate reproduction.
Our image capture is done by camera or scan. If your artwork is highly reflective and shiny, or larger than 16 x 20 inches, we typically choose camera capture over scanning.
We work with many Sivertson Gallery artists to scan and digitally capture their paintings including Jeff Boutin, Dave Gilsvik, Liz Sivertson, Howard Sivertson, Shelley Breitzmann, Julie Berg-Linville, Laura Lindquist, Neil Sherman, Tim Pearson, and others.
High resolution digital image capture pricing
Image capture is billed at $2.00 per minute, with required Photoshop time also billed at $2.00 per minute. Scanning time for image capture typically runs from 5 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the original, output resolution, and the degree of exact color matching required. Photoshop time required for camera capture typically runs from 10 to 30 minutes.
Contact us at 218-387-2491 for specific pricing of your project, and to schedule your session.
When finished with image capture, we’ll provide you with a high resolution, full size TIFF file (.tif) for printing, and a reduced size JPEG (.jpg) file suitable for web and email use. Finished, digitized image files are quite large and can be provided on DVD or customer-provided flash drive.
We can beautifully capture and digitize 2D flat art as well as 3D sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry.
Giclée paper and canvas printing
All paper and canvas prints from Sivertson are considered archival giclée prints. Giclée (pronounced ‘jhee-CLAY) printing uses the latest inkjet print technology to create superior, long-lasting prints. We print from digital files, so your artwork must be scanned or photographed with a digital camera; high-resolution images are strongly recommended to ensure stunning giclée prints.
In the giclée printing process, our Epson printer uses many more colors than a traditional 4-color offset printing process: a fine stream of ink (more than four million droplets per second) is sprayed onto archival paper or canvas. Giclée prints have a longevity of 55-200 years and are noted for exceptional detail and dynamic color and depth.
Prints on paper
For prints on paper we use Epson Velvet Fine Art paper, a 100% cotton rag paper that is buffered and acid free, is coated with a matte coating that provides exceptional color for photographers and artists alike, and has a museum quality feel. Epson Velvet Fine Art is 260 gsm, 97% opacity 94% ISO brightness.
For paper prints larger than 17 x 22 inches we use Epson Enhanced Matte paper, a bright white paper perfect for images that do not require gloss. It yields highly saturated images while maintaining excellent highlight and shadow detail. Epson Enhanced Matte is 192 gsm, 94% opacity, 104% ISO brightness.
Lexjet Sunset Hot Press Rag 310G paper is a 100% cotton, white art paper with a silky smooth surface ideal for reproducing paintings and art photographs that have unbroken swaths of color or a lot of detail. It is an excellent choice for small and large prints that need to convey a sense of timelessness or quality such as photo restorations, greeting cards, and postcards.
Prints on stretched or framed canvas
For prints on stretched or framed canvas, we use Breathing Color Crystalline Canvas Satin canvas. Crystalline Satin has a special coating that offers the best print quality, highest durability, and 55-year archivalness with no varnish required. It is OBA free for sharp colors and details, with no color fading. It is the perfect sheen for bold, vibrant prints and a heavy weight for stretchings.
If you wish to request other specific substrates for your giclée prints, please talk with us about your preference.
Canvas is the only fine art printing material that can safely be framed and presented without needing to be protected behind glass, making it a beautiful, cost-effective substrate for your print.

Photo restoration of digital files
Bring your photos back to life with our advanced photo restoration service. We can fix old photographs, add color to black and white pictures, clear up blurry images, adjust colors, and make small photos bigger. We’ll restore damage, discoloration, cracks, and more—which means you can restore clarity and emotion to your most treasured visual memories.
Restoration pricing
Photo restoration from a digital image capture is billed at $2.00 per minute. If you do not already have a digital scan of your original image, we will need to provide image capture before we begin photo restoration. Restoration time typically runs from 10 to 120 minutes depending on the degree of damage to the original print.
When finished with restoration, we’ll provide you with a high resolution, corrected file on your provided flash drive. High resolution restoration files are too large for email delivery, so we request you leave us a flash drive for file transfer.
Prints of your newly restored digital file are additional and billed at our regular printing costs, listed above underneath Paper print pricing and Stretched canvas print pricing.

Mark Tessier
is an experienced photographer and the production coordinator for Sivertson Print Studio. Almost every print that is hung on our gallery walls or shipped to our gallery customers is created in part or whole by Mark. First, he fastidiously photographs artwork for reproduction as a giclée paper or canvas print, then he coordinates the production of that print through the entire process of digital creation, printing on paper or canvas, and framing of the final print.
Creating exceptional prints requires a perfectionist with an eye for detail—and Mark has been with Sivertson Gallery for over a decade creating digital art images and providing stunning prints for artists of all media types.
