The year 2020 is a big one for us as we mark 40 years of Sivertson Gallery in Grand Marais and 25 years of Siiviis in Duluth—and we had hoped to hold a bigger and better-than-ever 2020 Inuit Premiere event in October. Alas, it’s still not possible to safely gather, and our Canadian partners are not able to travel to the United States to join us in celebration.
Our Sivertson Inuit Premieres have become a favorite event and are widely anticipated each year. During a weekend in late October we bring together artists from the far north regions of Alaska and Canada with artists from Grand Marais, hold printmaking and carvings demonstrations in our local studios, and engage our community’s children, seniors and residents in fun events enjoyed by all. The weekend event date corresponds with the annual Dorset Fine Arts Print Collection release.
Despite the quarantines and social distancing, we’re bringing a little taste of the far north to our customers.
