Art of the very far north: the Cape Dorset story
Since 1959, Kinngait Studios has released an annual October collection of prints from artists of the far north. Formerly known as Cape Dorset (until February of 2020), Kinngait is an Arctic island located in Hudson Strait, Nunavut, Canada. Cape Dorset is world famous for its great artwork—especially printmaking, drawing and carving.
Artists here have channelled their creativity into prints representing the Inuit way of life, and they have earned a worldwide reputation for quality and originality.
