The Trapper’s Daughter & the Unwritten Story

This year’s Gallery Hop Earth Day Celebration at Siiviis in Duluth will be
unlike any other event before! Why, do you ask? Well my friends, because
this year’s celebration is truly a dream come true. On April 25th, the ladies
of Siiviis, along with the Kenspeckles of the Kenspeckle Letterpress present
to you:

A THIRTEEN year retrospective featuring all 17 of the Trapper’s Daugher
breathtaking appearances in print, including this year’s truly amazing addition
to the line up (to be revealed on Saturday). Our front wall of Siiviis will be
covered from top to bottom with all 17 images beautifully framed. This is the
first time in Siiviis and Sivertson Gallery history for all of these beloved prints
to be highlighted in one location. Please join us for Rick Allen’s artist
reception on Saturday, April 25th from 1:00- 4:00 PM, to witness
the beauty of this show, along with new pieces by many of our
other fabulous artisans.

In preparation for this monumental occasion, we will be counting down the days with e-blast presentations of all 17 Trapper’s Daughter images. Starting at the very beginning (a very good place to start), today we present:

In 2002, wearing a lumber jack coat snowshoes & wielding an axe, the Trapper’s Daughter began her grand adventure in “A Christmas Surprise.”

Did you hear that? It sounds like….

In 2004, with Northern Lights glowing, her red concertina rocking, and blonde hair whipping in the wind, The Trapper’s Daughter gives us a glimpse into her mysterious life in the great north woods.

“On winter nights, where northern lights would paint the snow with color, with her concertina the Trapper’s Daughter would sing to the Pickerel.”

In 2005, our favorite woodswoman makes a cameo appearance in “Winter Light.” The weather is frigid cold and she is so bundled up it would be difficult to know it’s her if not for her signature lantern and mukluks.  Fun fact, it was this print that inspired Rick’s classic “The Trapper’s Daughter & the Sleepless Bear.”
That’s all for today. Can you guess what the next Trapper’s Daughter image is? I’ll give you a hint, it is the first scene to take place in a season other than winter…..

Until Tomorrow,
The Siiviis Crew
