Now Marian… her work speaks volumes. People stand in front of her wall with hands to their mouths, just taking it in. This year, her print “Bear Heart” seemed to attract the most conversation. For example, one family who came out of the BWCA this summer stopped by the gallery on their way home. The teenage son was standing by Marian’s wall when his dad walked by. “Hey Dad, what about this one?” They proceeded to talk about all the things they liked about this particular image, how it reminded them of this or that, and I could see that this Dad was loving this discussion. I had nearly forgotten about the interaction, until after lunch the Dad came back to the gallery, and with the same big smile on his face he said, “I have NEVER seen my son so engaged with a work of art before!”
From family cabins, to Twin Cities living rooms, and now even teenage boys’ bedrooms, Marian and Rick’s images bring happiness wherever they hang.
